Dear Lisa,
You might be wondering why I am taking so long in writing back to your previous letter. Baically as I had mentioned earlier that I am moving to Karachi for a year because I have got promoted and become Team Leader for Karachi’s office. This promotion has come with other side-challenges also in which I have to move to Karachi for this new role, leaving behind my town Lahore. It is quite difficult for me to adapt new city and environment. But this new role pays quite well so I am actually much more convinced from the idea of shifting to a new city.
So it is been a week and I have slowly recovered from the severe throat infection which I got before leaving my home. Rented an apartment in the vicinity of Clifton area which is quite near to my office, it is just 10 minutes away by walk. Since begining, I have heard that Karachi is not safe for girls but I am witnessing here something very different, that is women are mostly riding scooties and motor-bikes and much more visible on streets and public spaces. This quite motivating because now I am also thinking to get an electric bike which would be more convenient for me to go outside on weekends. I know you would be extremely concerned about my safety but for your information I have already have my bikeer’s license with me and I will always wear the helmet I promise!
Anyways the traffic is quite noisy and chaotic but nights of this beautiful city are extremely beautiful, cold and windy sometimes. People here consume tea a lot and one can find tea stalls everywhere. My new colleagues are quite supportive and one of my female colleague helped me in getting the initial groceries from nearby market.
From all the support and kindness from my colleagues, I still feel a void in my routine. Maybe I am missing Lahore more than usual, it will take a year to go back to my home. In order to avoid that vaccum from my routine I am really trying to focusing more on work and spend time outside in the city to adopt its culture and environment. Maybe I am trying too hard on myself. Anyways I have got you some really good news, that I am visiting to Jakarta – Indonesia for a team-building training sponsored by my work. So thankfully I will get enough time to meet you in-person because this meeting will last for a week and I will extend three days more before returning to Karachi so that we can spend some quality time together. Give my regards to your Mom and say that I would want chicken noodles soup in dinner which she used to make.
I will inform you once the arrangements would be done. Also I have got some gifts for your brother and sister-in-law. Please do also write me about your life and update me about your crush whom you were seeing for last couple of months.
Miss you so much. And cannot wait to see you.
Stay blessed.
Bunny
