Dear James,
I am writing to apologise sincerely for having to cancel our preparation session at such short notice last Tuesday, and I wanted to explain what happened and express how genuinely sorry I am for the way things turned out.
On the morning of our session, I received an urgent call from my mother informing me that my father had suffered a cardiac episode and had been rushed to hospital. As his next of kin, I had no choice but to leave immediately and travel to be with my family. I was at the hospital for the remainder of the day and was completely unable to make contact with anyone outside the family during that time.
I want you to know that I feel terrible about letting you down, particularly on something as important as this presentation. I am fully aware that you were counting on my support, and I can only imagine how stressful and difficult it must have been to face that situation alone. The fact that the presentation did not go as planned makes me feel even worse, and I take full responsibility for not finding a way to reach out to you sooner.
I am absolutely committed to making this up to you. To begin with, I would like to sit down with you this week and help you prepare a revised version of the presentation, incorporating any feedback you received. If there is an opportunity to present again to the team or to the client, I will personally support you every step of the way. Additionally, I would be happy to take on some of your workload over the coming days to give you space to recover and refocus.
Once again, I am truly sorry, James. Your trust means a great deal to me, and I will make sure something like this never happens again.
Warm regards,
Fazal
