The process diagram illustrates how tea leaves can be processed to become five different types of tea.
Overall, it is evident that tea leaves can become different teas depending on the process . However, all tea leaves intended for different tea types go through the same basic stages.
Regardless of the final tea types, all tea leaves are processed similarly in the first few stages. They are cultivated in natural environments and plucked, before going through the wilting stage. After this, they are ready to become white tea. However, to become green tea, these tea leaves have to be steamed and rolled. Oolong tea also requires rolling, but unlike all other tea types, it goes through slight fermentation.
The two tea types which require a full fermentation are large leaf black tea and small leaf black tea. The only difference between these two forms of tea is that large leaf black tea goes through a rolling stage but the latter does not. The tea leaves are, however, crushed into smaller pieces to become small leaf black tea. Notably, all five teas are dried in an oven as the final stage.
