The bar chart illustrated the percentage of children from three age groups who took part in four different activities in a European country in 2009.
Overall, it is clear that watching TV was very popular among all three age groups, especially children aged 5-8. In contrast, older children were much more interested in riding bikes, while playing video games became less popular with age.
For watching TV, about 95% of children aged 5-8 took part in this activity, which was the highest figure on the chart. The percentages for the other two groups were lower but equal, at around 80%. In terms of reading comics, there was little difference between the three groups. Around 62% of 5-8-year-olds read comics, compared with approximately 65% of children in both older groups.
For playing video games, about 60% of the youngest children participated, while the figure for 9-11-year-olds was slightly lower, at around 58%. It then fell considerably to 40% among those aged 12-15.
Finally, riding bikes showed a different pattern. Around 67% of 5-8-year-olds rode bikes, compared with 60% of 9-11-year-olds. However, the figure rose sharply to just over 80% among the oldest children.
