The graph provides information about the percentages of children of different ages and their preferred leisure activities.
Overall, watching TV was the most popular activity among younger children, while riding bikes became increasingly common with age. By contrast, the proportion of children playing video games declined significantly as they got older, whereas reading comics remained relatively stable across all age groups.
In terms of watching television, around 95% of children aged 5-8 took part in this activity, compared with approximately 80% of both the 9-11 and 12-15 age groups. Reading comics attracted similar proportions in all three categories, at about 62% for the youngest group and roughly 65% for the two older groups.
A different pattern can be seen in the remaining activities. The percentage of children who played video games decreased steadily with age, falling from around 60% among 5-8-year-olds to about 58% for those aged 9-11, before dropping sharply to approximately 40% in the oldest group. In contrast, riding bikes became more popular as children grew older. Around 67% of the youngest children rode bikes, compared with 61% of those aged 9-11, while the figure reached just over 80% among 12-15-year-olds, making it the most popular activity in this age group.
