The bar chart presents the proportion of children from 5 to 15 years living in a European country who participated in one of four activities, namely watching TV, reading comics, playing video games and riding a bike, in 2009. Overall, the most popular hobby for children of different age ranges varies, as does the proportion of participants for each activity.
Noticeably, watching TV was the most chosen way of spending time among all the kids since for each age group the proportion involved was higher than 75 per cent. Children of 5-8 years were the most engaged with TV in 2009, as their percentage was around 90%, while for the other two groups it was equal at around 75%, according to the graph. With regard to comics, the proportion involved among each age group differs slightly. It was chosen equally of approximately 70 per cent by youth aged 9-11 and 12-15, and a bit less by 5-8 years olders.
The involvement in video games and bikes among the groups differs much more. Teenagers aged 12-15 had the least interest in playing video games, being the only category chosen by less than half. Comparatively, the children from other age groups also participated in this activity less than in others. Finally, riding bikes was the most chosen by the oldest group, reaching slightly more than 75 per cent of involvement.
