Another point that can be seen clearly from the graph is overexploitation, pollution, and the introduction of invasive species are equally responsible to the extinction of animals but only to a certain extent.
Habitat destruction accounts for the greatest proportion of animal extinctions with 40%. Climate change comes next in the second place as responsible for 25% of extinctions. Overexploitation makes up 15% of total shares. Other categories comprising 10% shares each are pollution as well as invasive species. This chart shows that habitat loss is the primary cause of the extinction of animals, proving how important natural habitat conservation is to the survival of many animal species.
