The two aerial maps of a small town show the existing layout of a town center and the proposed redevelopment plan for the same.
After comparing the two plans, it is clear that there are substantial changes in roads and pathways, mobility of vehicles and pedestrian movements. Existing built areas are being renovated to accommodate a shopping centre, bus station, car parking, new accommodations and the public recreation space is reduced to incorporate additional housing areas.
Firstly, there is a notable increase in the area for vehicular movement, a proposed dual carriageway, which is expanded to circulate around the redevelopment plot, and also a new pedestrian walkway replacing the existing main road. The approach road from the northwest is connected to the new mobility hub that consists of a bus station, shopping mall, and car parking.
In addition to the mobility hub, the existing array of shops is being renovated into a new housing zone on the northeast side of the town center. It is clear from the layout that there are significant changes in the northern wing in comparison to the southern wing, but on the contrary, the proposed map shows a considerable reduction in the area of the existing public park, situated on the northeast side, which is allotted for new housing areas.
