The image contains a three-stage diagram illustrating sand dune formation, with a key indicating symbols for wind (right-pointing arrow), sand particles (dotted circles), wet sand (solid curved shape), and dry sand (hatched area). In the first stage, wind moves across a flat surface of dry sand containing patches of wet sand, causing sand particles to accumulate on the wet patches. The second stage shows two small mounds of sand particles formed on the wet sand patches, with wind flowing over them. The third stage depicts these mounds growing into larger dunes on the wet sand bases, with wind continuing to transport particles over their crests and the intervening dry sand surface showing small ripples.
Given the complexity of the image, the above description may not be entirely accurate.

The provided diagram illustrates the process by which sand dunes are formed.

Overall, sand dunes formation is a gradual, multi-stage natural process in which wind transports sand particles across dry areas until they become trapped by the wet sand. Over time, these deposits develop unto larger dune structures.

Initially, under the influence of prevailing winds, sand particles are carried across the surface of dry sand. Whan they reach wet patches, they become trapped, as these areas act as natural collection points. As more sand deposited, small mounds gradually begin to form.

In the next stage, the mounds steadily grow as the wind carries more sand particles toward them. Some particles are blown over the top of the mounds, while others are diposited on the opposite side. As this process continues, the mounds become increasingly larger and eventually develope into mature sand dunes. At the same time, continuous wind movement creates small ripples in the surrounding dry sand.
