Dear Sam.
I assume you’re disappointed in me for not showing up at our dinner reservation, and I am as well. I know how much this dinner meant to you, and I had no right to disrespect your time as I did. The reason I could not show was due to a failure to pay parking tickets. I was held in the police station until I was released. This is all a massive failure on my part, and I sincerely apologize for being foolish enough to get held up for such a tepid reason. I am depressed that I ruined our time together in such a witless manner, and I could only imagine what you’re going through as of now. I’m sorry for not being able to attend our dinner reservation, and I hope to reschedule for another time if you can still accommodate me.
Many Thanks, Chuck
