Dear Priya,

I hope you are doing well with your studies and in general. I am writing this to respond to your request to help you out with your college project on how new year is celebrated in different countries.

As you know I am from India. In India, we have a special meaning to this day as various religions have their own new years based in their religious calendars which have specific meanings. But in general, when it’s 1st Jan we visit our temples and pray to God for the better year ahead. Additionally, we serve food and clothes to the people in need. In the evenings, there is a family and friends gathering where everyone cooks delicious meals and we all eat them together.

The part which I like the most is decorating the house and having resolutions for the new year where we all promise to get rid of any one bad habit and adopt a new healthy one.
