Dear Lisa,
I hope you are doing well.
Your project sounds interesting, and I would love to tell you how we celebrate New Year in China. As you konw, the date of New Year changes every year according to Lunar Calender, which may vary from January to Februry, and we call it “Spring Festival”. The festival is crucial to us since people come back home to celebrate it together. For those who go to another city for work, this could be the only time they have a reunion with their families.
Usually we start to prepare for the New Year’s Eve a week earlier, including making fried food, purchasing decoration and new clothes. When the evening comes, the whole family will get together, playing games, making dumplings and watching special TV shows for the festival. At 12 o’clock, all you can hear are fireworks and pleasing music from TV swelling in the room, which makes this moment a truly remarkable one and gives people hope for the following year. This is why I love the festival and always want to go back home to celebrate it with my family.
This is all I want to mention about Chinese New Year, and I hope it helps. Do not forget to talk about your project once you finish it!
Best wishes,
Jen
