Dear John,

I’m Matteo, I’m currently studying at the Highschool in Legnano. Mrs. Rossi has given to me your address to be penfriends. We’d write each other, I think it would be funny.

I live here in Legnano, a small city in the hinterland of Milan. We’re at about 40 minutes by car from Milan, that’s 1 hour by train. I’ve got two sisters, both younger than me, we live together with our parents in a hous not to far away from the city centre. I’m now at the 4th year of Highschool, that in Italy lasts 5 years.

I have two hobbies: playing guitar and playing tennis. I like to spend all my free time between them. I think is great that both my hobbies go together with staying with friends. In fact when I play tennis I’d need at least one friend (two If we play the double) to play with. And the same is true for guitar: I love to play with my band, and we are 4-5 friends.

I’d be really intrested to know what do you do in your freetime. I know that the most popoular sports in the US are football and basketball. Do you play one of them? I think you’re lucky because you can watch NBA matches at “normal” times, while in Italy we’ve to stay up at insane times in the night if we want to watch american matches. Let me know also the music you listen to: it would be great to share our favourite songs.
