At present, some young people may not be familiar with the culture and traditions of their native country. This can happen because of technological advancements, and the lack of cultural awareness can lead to the loss of cultural identity in the future, so it is a negative development.
One of the reasons why the youth may be less interested in the traditions of their nation is the fast development of technologies that creates a false sense of the possibility to have meaningful connections with the whole world via the internet. Some young people tend to think that following traditions is an outdated and boring practice, because the internet makes them feel that they are part of a global village, where one culture dissolves in others. As a result, cultural boundaries may be erased, making young people unaware of the cultural heritage of their native country and, subsequently, forget about their origin and sometimes even feel ashamed of it. It is exacerbated by some narratives on the internet that claim that supporting traditions is a relic of the past in the epoch of globalization since there is a trend to consider yourself a citizen of the world, not of a separate country or national minority.
Admittedly, not maintaining traditions by young people is a negative development since local rituals and culture counter alienation created by spending time online and confusion of the fast-paced world. I believe that the loss of cultural diversity, which can be caused by forgetting the local culture and traditions by young people, does not do any good to the generations to come. This is because they may feel disoriented in the future as traditions evoke the sense of belonging to a community and nurture the connections with the past, providing some constant in our ever-changing world. The memories attached to the rituals remind people who they are and give them the feeling of connectedness to a time, place, or dearest people. For this reason, it is a worrying sign when young people are not eager to familiarise themselves with their culture and traditions.
In conclusion, the youth may not be conscious about the traditions and culture of their country because of the emergence of the internet, where everything appears to be interconnected and interrelated, with the tradition being neglected. I think that this is a negative tendency, as it leads to the loss of cultural diversity
