In the contemporary world, it is believed that governmental authorities should direct their financial resources towards public services instead of allocating substantial funds to the arts such as music and painting. From my perspective, I am in total agreement with this point of view because it is fundamental to nurturing a healthy and productive society.
Firstly, public services play a crucial role in ensuring the basic needs of society are met, while the arts primarily serve as a form of entertainment. In fact, there are myriad of people who are grappling with economic challenges and striving to meet their daily needs, so they do not even have time to pay attention to entertainment such as singing or painting. When governments allocate their budgets to these services education and healthcare, they ensure that everyone has access to necessary facilities and support. For example, currently the dengue epidemic is breaking out, leading to a serious shortage of hospital beds and medicine and the government needs to spend a large amount of money to support hospital fees and upgrade facilities to treat the disease for patients.
Moreover, the use of state budget for the arts only meets temporary entertainment needs, whereas prioritizing public services can lead to substantial long-term economic benefits. For example, investing in public education can create a highly skilled workforce, attract businesses and froster innovation that contributes to economic growth. In contrast, arts funding often relies on public benefits and ticket sales, which may lack both immediate and sustained positive impacts on economic growth. As the result, the more the government focuses on public services, the more the country develops.
In conclusion, while the arts play an important role in cultural expression, I firmly believe that government spending should prioritize public services. By investing in education, healthcare and other essential services, governments can ensure that their people will have a good quality of life and build a strong foundation for growth in the future.
