The growing number of overweight kids is concerning because it can lead to health problems in adulthood, when people will be forced to invest a consistent amount of money to health care. In my opinion, this problem is primarily driven by the food habits of the average modern family, thus it can be tackled by spreading awareness about the long-term negative impact of unhealthy food.
The main cause for this problem relies on the unruly food habits of today’s families. In many households it is very common to frequently consume unhealthy food, such as high-sugared and junk food. As long as parents will permit these eating habits, which are extremely harmful for health, the number of fat or overweight youngsters will grow further. It has been proven that, in the United States, 92% of the respondent families that used to have bad eating habits, had at least one overweight kid as a son or daughter. This study serves as an example to demonstrate how parents are the prime cause for the increasing number of morbid obesity.
To address such issues, proactive initiatives such as targeted TV programs aimed at fostering awareness on the far-reaching damaging effects of unhealthy food consumption in little children. Those programs, transmitted on kids channels but also in adult ones, could promote consciousness among both the young and adult population and significantly lower the wide-spreading trend of fatness in children .
In conclusion, future generations are risking serious health problems due to the increasing amount of children who are overweight. This situation can lead to health problems in adulthood as well as health care expenditure. This issue is driven by the extremely irregular eating habits of today’s families. However, through television programs informing the populace about the harmful repercussions of the consumption of unhealthy food, the morbid obesity rates in kids can be minimised.
