In today’s modern life, people are inclined to form a group of friends having the same ages or interests in the third place. This tendency has exerted both positive and negative impacts on children, which will be outlined in this essay.
To begin with, peer groups can affect to children in a good way. Chief among these is its ability to facilitate their school life. Clearly, friends are likely to a regular intimate chat regarding the common topics and empathize and support each other to deal with stumbling blocks. As a result, not only does this promote the interpersonal friendly relationships, but their mental well-being also improves. Furthermore, peer groups affect the personal growth as well since the desire to catch up with other members pushes them to make progress in academic results. If someone take part in a group of elite students, for instance, he or she need to be determined in studying to have a sense of belonging; and, consequently, their performances in school change positively.
Additionally, this type of group also has considerably negative influence. The first point is children’s bad behavior. At an impressionable age, many learn and mimic each other’s activities, both good and bad. According to the statistics of Ministry of Society Life, over 50% teenagers get involved in social evils because they want to become a part of their group, leading to the broken life in the near future. Moreover, a group can accidentally isolate them from other students. To clarify, some may consistently stick to their team without interacting with others, making social networks become narrowed and awkward.
In conclusion, peer groups have various effects to children’s lives. If students manage it properly, it leads to bright ones with regard to school life and development; unless, it brings about bad behaviors and awkward social relationships.
