Nowadays, many products are manufactured in foreign countries and transported long distances. Despite its benefits consumers with a wider range of products, I believe that its enviromental disadvantages, especially pollution from transportation, outweigh the benefit.
. Products manufactured overseas and delivered over long distances offers consumer with a wider range of choice. In general, there are specific goods that are available to one country but unavailable to other countries around the world. As a result, exported products give users access to new products that have not yet appeared in their current markets. For example, Vietnam, which is known for its tropical fruits and rice, has exported and delivered thousands of tons of rice and agricultural products , such as England, America, or Australia. This will give people more choices while going shoppin because there are products that are not locally available.
However, pollution is an significant disadvantage. Shipments of products demand the use of cargo ships, airplanes, trains and other shipping vehicles. These means of transportation emit huge amounts of carbon dioxide, which is a considerable pollutant that creates air pollution, especially air planes. Futhermore, cargo ships can also sink and cause oil spills, killing thousands of marine animals and their ecosystem. For instance, over the years, the use of airplanes for delivery has released a substantial amount of CO2 into the atmosphere . As a result, the gorvements have had to introduced policies aimed at reducing emission from air and ocean transportation.
In conclusion, the trading and transporting of goods between countries has offered users around the world more choices of products. Nevertheless, it prompted such a detrimental effect, which is pollution because of the use of airplanes, cargo ships for shipping, that impacts the living environment and ecosystem of marine species.
