It is said that if a huge proportion of the population, will migrate to urban areas, city life may loses its appeal. I totally agree with this line of thought. This essay will provide reasonable arguments for my perspective and also a contrary view that others might have in society.
To begin with, in my opinion, if cities will expand due to increase in the population, less people will prefer to live in urban areas for several reasons. The first and foremost reason is that residents might not get sufficient amenities. When more individuals move to cities, the demand for public facilities, such as access to clean water, public transportation, education and healthcare increases, but often local councils are unable to fulfill these increasing demands. For instance, the population of Ahmedabad has increased significantly in the past few years, but authorities are not able to provide sufficient services to all areas. Therefore, people are not preferring to live in cities.
Moreover, increasing crime rate is also the reason why people do not prefer urban lifestlyes. Most people migrate to cities for the better quality of life and job opportunities, but if they are unable to get desired employment opportunities, they might engage in illegal activities. For example, it is common trend trend in the places where the younger generation is unemployed that cime rate is often higher than average. As a result, fewer people want to live in urban areas because safety is one of the basic life requirements.
However, one part of society might disagree with this statement. The primary reason for their belief is that increasing amount of job opportunities. When the population of a area rise, many businesses and jobs can take place because the demand for all things will increase significantly. Thus, in order to fulfill the demand many job opportunities can be created.
In conclusion, although expansion and migration to cities will increase employment opportunities, I firmly believe that urban life will loses its appeal because crime rate might increase and residents cannot access effective services.
