In this developed world, there is an argument among people whether students should spend a period of time studying and living another country in order to learn a various language and culture. Although there are several disadvantages like not all students can afford studying abroad, I am completely agree to this statement.
One compelling reason is that students can learn language through immersion because when students live in another country, they are surrounded by target language every day and they can learn language naturally like learning phrases and chunks. They remember the words they learned because they must use them in real – life situation like shopping. Furthermore, by studying and living in a various county students can cultivate their cultural awareness because they can experience local customs, traditions and lifestyles.
Perhaps the most significant benefit is that by living in abroad students can learn being independence. Students who live abroad must manage their own finances, accommodation, and this type of daily responsibilities. Consequently they become more independent, responsible as well as confident. In addition, always employees who studied abroad valued and their wages are higher than ordinary workers so students can take opportunity of better work by studying abroad. Moreover, learning another language and culture can broaden horizons of students because living foreign country demand think more critically to solve different problems. For example, my friend studied in German, and as a result, he became more independent and solve problems easily.
Taking everything into account, I firmly believe that spending time studying abroad allows students to develop both linguistic and cultural needs.
