Many universities these days are offering online courses. Although this trend offer students to study from their home and save both money and commute time, there are several disadvantages, including difficulties in clearing doubts and understanding practical experiments.
On the one hand, one of the main benefits of studying through online courses is that students can save commute time. They can use the saved time to do self-practice after completing their online lectures. However, students still need to follow thier course curriculum provided by university. Another factor that contributes to this positive trend is that students can now opt programs from foreign univeristy virtually. This plays an important role in saving costs. Not only does it provide students to gain new skills, but it also facilitates them to learn from foreign professors. As a result, they gain different skills as part of their curriculum.
On the other hand, the primary disadvantage includes difficulties in clearing doubts. Unlike offline courses, students can not ask their doubts to professors in their face-to-face interactions. Online learners usually need to submit their doubts online and teachers resolve those doubts when they have spare time. Another factor is that virtual study creates difficulties in understanding the practical experiments. Practical experiments are hard to understand in a virtual environment. Students often need to visualise them as per their knowledge. For example, a lab expirement that involves human interaction with physical objects are often hard to fully understand in a virtual class setting.
In conclusion, even though the benefit includes saving students commute time and costs. However, difficulties in understanding the practical lab experiments and clearing doubts are the two main drawbacks of online studies.
