Traveling in space is expected to happen for some time, and some people also believe that tourism in space could be developed in the future. Although this trend can be advantageous in certain respects, I believe that the disadvantages it brings about are considerably more serious.
Admittedly, there are a few minor advantages associated with this issue. It can contribute to the countries’ economic growth. To launch spacecraft companies hire specialists who earn salaries, and they spend money in the local economy. More spending helps businesses grow. Another advantage is technological advancement. This is because, space tourism requires modern and cutting-edge technology. Companies need to develop better equipment to solve technical problems. For example, companies may introduce advanced sensors and communication systems for space traveling. As a result, new technologies benefit other industries and society and these technologies may later be adopted for use in other industries.
Nevertheless, when viewed from another perspective, I am convinced that the negative consequences are more significant. One of the main drawbacks of space travel is its negative impact on the environment. This is because, rockets consume large amounts of fuel and release emissions into atmosphere which affects climate change. As a result, this trend makes difficult reduce pollution and protect the environment. Another demerit of space traveling is serious risks to human life. This is mainly because, during travel spacecrafts may be exposed to technical failures and equipment malfunctions. For example, life-threatening accidents like spacecraft failure can cause tourists to be unable to return to Earth safely. This in turn, can endanger passengers lives.
In conclusion, although this trend has some advantages such as economic growth and technological advancement, I believe its drawbacks, including climate change and risks to human life, outweigh these benefits.
