On the one hand, there are several disadvantages of hybrid learning, one of which is distraction. In a traditional classroom setting, the students are under direct supervision in order to keep them from doing their private work during class, such as chatting. However, while studying online, some students are likely to be exposed to many distractions, such as social media or entertainment because the teachers cannot control the students. Consequently, this could reduce their concentration or affect their academic performance if they lack self-discipline. Secondly, another disadvantage is technology dependence. Blended learning relies heavily on many electronic devices including Wifi routers or computers. Additionally, students may also face technical problems during online learning, such as poor internet connection or device incompatibility. As a consequence, the students’ learning process can be affected negatively, especially students who are financially disadvantaged.
On the other hand, despite having some drawbacks, hybrid learning also offers numerous benefits to students. One of the most significant pros is that it gives students access to lots of information. Moreover, it also facilitates independent learning by allowing students to study at their own pace. For example, many online learning platforms often have various sources of learning material like videos, quizzes or exercises, allowing students to study by themselves. Another great advantage is that blended learning enhances the learning experience as it has a wide range of educational apps that are more engaging than traditional textbooks. For instance, many online platforms use innovative tools like simulations and interactive videos. As a result, learning will become more engaging and effective
