Band 6: Bloodsports should be banned as it is cruel to animals (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Nowadays, bloodsports are considered an unethical way of spending time by our ever-improving community, as they are harmful for the creatures that are used during these events. Hence, every activity involving such cruelty should be omitted. This essay agrees, that helpless animals should not be tortured in any way.

Bloodsports can seriously demoralize societies, because it has the ability to make such bloodsheds common and accepted in the form of entertainment. Therefore, this essay agrees with the suggestion, that they should be banned. For instance, bullfighting is a popular sport in Spain and it contributes a great deal to the negative change in people ‘s behavior towards animals.

However, bloodsports provide large incomes for countries. Some people enjoy watching such shows, giving out plenty of money for only a few hours of entertainment. Therefore, it would be understandable if countries evinced reluctance when it came to banning the activity. In spite of this, the essay is strongly against this view, as it is still cruel to murder and make animals suffer for people’s amusement. For example, dogfights usually involve slowly killing the animal, causing it even more harm and pain.

To conclude, people have a great reason to think that bloodsports should be banned, as they demoralize societies and hurt helpless animals, however some still think that it is entertaining and it also provides a lot of money for countries. This essay agrees that such suports should be omitted, as people have no right to abuse animals for their entertainment.
