Business meetings and trainings are occurring online. Although it offers several benefits I consider that drawbacks regarding team collaboration and technical problems that can be encountered are far more significant.
One advantage of the digital meetings is their convenience. Employees can access them easily with their gadgets without commuting to a particular location.Also it would save one’s time for personal activities. Another upside is the fact that online meetings could be useful for a company’s budget. This is because holding these events in offices would require the presence of several facilities, such as individual computers, ventilation or heating systems, in order to provide optimal working conditions, requiring significant investment.
Despite the above-mentioned positives, I tend to believe that negatives are highly significant. In particular, as team members are not able to collaborate with fellow workers and managers, there is the risk of communication breakdowns. Also, it could restrict direct face-to-face communication, whereas during one-to-one meetings, direct questions could be asked and instant feedbacks could be received. Furthermore, technical challenges is another issue. There is the possibility of computer crashes, weak internet signals, which will probably hinder your connection to the workspace online.
To conclude, it is true that this trend entails some benefits. I am firmly convinced that disadvantages regarding direct interaction and internet failures outweigh them.
