In recent years, the growing concern over air pollution in urban areas has widely debated whether cars should be banned from the city center. While this method could potentially reduce the pollution level, I believe that banning cars entirely is too drastic and can lead to disadvantage outcomes.
Banning cars from city centers can create severe inconveniences for many people, especially those who rely on an individual car for communicating and addressing important services. Without a substantive solution, daily routine could be disturbed, resulting in serious dissatisfaction. While there is an alternative travelling as a public transportation which potentially carrying many workers in a peak hour, but it is not an appropriate addressing for many capitals, in many developing countries, where currently has traffic jam.
Consequently, a total band could also critically affect a country’s economy. Because of lacking mobility in general people, a lot of businesses in city centers might suffer from decreased reaching-customer. The government’s tax received from purchasing products or VAT could significantly fall. This might degrade the utilities and wealthiness of everyone.
In conclusion, instead of completely banning cars, a government should consider a compromised measure, such as promoting using electric vehicles, constructing cycling lanes and developing public transport. Thus, the pollution could efficiently optimize without having any obstacles to other parts in communities.
