In today’s world, the problem of childhood obesity has become serious. Although there are some reasons for this problem, some feasible solutions can be considered to address it.
There are several reasons why an increasing number of children are diagnosed with obesity. Firstly, due to parents’ lack of time to prepare nutritious meals, children are more likely to consume large amounts of unhealthy foods, such as fast food and sugary soft drinks to quickly have a meal, which results in harmful eating habits. In fact, these food items often contain high levels of additives, saturated fats, and sugars, as a result increasing the risk of chronic illnesses like heart diseases, diabetes, and cancer. In addition, another reason is the lack of physical activities. Because youngsters may lack the energy to engage in outdoor activities after studying, as a result of the accumulation of fat deposits in their bodies. In fact, most adolescents these days tend to have a sedentary lifestyle, preferring to play computer games and chat on the internet instead of participating in sports or playing outside.
There are several feasible solutions which can be resorted to overcome the problem of increasing obesity among teenagers. First, parents should prioritize the preparation of wholesome meals consisting of sufficient vegetables and reduced fat content for their children, thanks to which they can develop healthy dietary habits and promote overall well-being. Second, it is essential for them to impose limitations on screen time including computers and video games, thanks to which teenagers can create more opportunities for regular exercise such as participating in sports, joining community recreation programs, or simply engaging in active play.
To sum up, the problem of the growth of obesity could be sensibly and easily tackled if the above measures are taken into consideration and shared by both the concerned authorities and the general public.
