In recent times, various channels for dissemination of information keeps improving, as a result of technological advancement. Examples are books, radio and television amongst others. In the next few paragraphs, i would be discussing the merits and demerits of the mentioned communication medias.
To begin with the advantages, books remain a traditional method of communicating ideas, used till date especially in schools as a form of learning aids for the students. Additionally, radio has been an early means of creating awareness used by our grandparents, before the era of Internet. Also, the introduction of audio-visuals like television was a game changer, as it provided a colourful display of information which got the attention of individuals. For instance, various films production, news updates, health awareness are been broadcaster via TV enabling easy access for people from the comfort of their home, as again the times of going to cinemas just to watch a movie.
However, there are some disadvantages of this medias, one is the felling of trees which are used for production of books which has an adverse effect on the environment resulting in cases like floods, high impacts of carbon dioxide since there are not trees to make use of them. Secondly, childrens who happens to be the major viewer of televison programmes, are at high risk of been exposed to numerous contents which can negatively influence them, resulting in the increased rate of crimes and immoral activities.
In conclusion, books are still the most effective means of communication, as it protects young minds from been corrupted and it also helps to shapen them academically, irrespective of the odds which can still be easily regulated.
