In recent times of climate change, more people are getting concerned about environment which is driving them to choose recycling. However, some also believe this measure only is not enough and want to reduce their daily consumption of such goods. I will discuss both views and share my opinion below.
The nature is going through dramatic changes which is evident through recent heat increase, ice melting, sea level rise and climate change induced disasters. Majority of the people blame the use of plastic goods, coal and oil as fuel and emision of methane, carbon di oxide and CFC gas in nature. These negatively impacts soil, air and water, all three natural resources important for human survival. The use of plastic items is problamatic as sea creatures are currently living under thousands of kilometers of plastic lying on the ocean bed, causing reduction in bio-diversity and habitat. Additionally, the plastic that ends up in soil or ground are not degrading easily and will sustain for hundreds of years. Similarly, the use of fossil fuels are causing increase of natural heat, damaging ozone layers as well as air we inhale. The people who want to recycle want to adopt the process of using the discarded items to maximise the use and reduce unnecessary pollution. Reusage of plastic items and polymer goods has a distinct cost effective procedures for example a lot of successful cosmetic and beverage companies often adds a note of their bottles being made from recycled products. Also interms of fuels, developing countries are opting for nuclear sources for fuel generation instead for organic options as the residues can be reused in a cycling process. Although these seems promising, a vast majority belives people needs to reduce their consumption of plastic, oil and coal in order to repair the current damage the nature is experiencing.
Some governments are banning using vast use of plastic bags, bottles and this is having postive impact on the nature. From my opinion, I think both measures should be adopted equally. The one time use items such as polymer tissue, bags, or bottles could be replaced by cotton clothes, reusable cotton or jute bags and stainless steel bottles. Since the current research also backs these aspects by proving microplastics in our bloodstream and inner organs. The nuclear and solar energy could reign over the use of organic fuels slowly reducing their impact in the nature. During the covid-19 pandemic, when people were living mostly at homes, we saw the natural changes of reduced use of these goods on our surroundings. However, recycling and reuse of medical items should be strictly monitored and discouraged as these can bring disasterous impact on human.
Overall, I believe both views are well and combining both ways of life could bring more positive impact on human.
