These days people tend to be increasingly concerned over their nutritional intake, due to its significant impact on their health and lifestyle. While many advocate for increased government investment in domestic manufacturing, yet others are of firmly belief that import has generated a substantial contribution in international commercial trading. In this essay, I will side with the latter view for a multitude of justifications.
On the one hand, there are various justifications to explain why several individuals opine that
prioritizing internal agricultural manufacturing is more advantageous than international ones. To begin with, It stands to reason that when more citizens utilise products of native farmers or fishermen, they can indirectly generate more opportunities in occupation for the local labours as well as mitigating the dependence on foreign markets. Also, relying on local produce ensures a more secure and reliable food supplement, lessen the risk associated with global trade or transportation. Take Vietnam for example, In 1996 Vietnamese consumers used to purchase a considerable amount of American oranges and then the customers were entangled when American markets decide to confine the orange import to Asian countries.
On the other hand, I firmly endorse that the more international importations, the more merits countries can derive. First of all, It is fair to say that import facilitates enormously to the environment because environmental contaminations are attributable to the full-scale nourishment production for accommodating the requirements of domestic consumers. For instance, extensive investment can put pressure on natural resources, leading to issues like deforestation, overuse of water, and soil degradation. Besides, getting approach with the international foodstuffs assists in diversifying the nutrients and ingredients in dietary habits of people. As a result, the countries can witness a rapid economic development rate by fostering commerce between nations.
In summary, while striving for self-sufficiency in food manufacture has its plus points, balancing indigenous production with judicious importations guarantees food security, while maintaining diversity and economic sustainability.
