There is ongoing debate over whether hosting major international sporting events brings more benefit than drawbacks to hosting nation. Although organizing such events requires substancial financial investment, I believe the long-term economics and social benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
It is widely believed that hosting major international sporting events is beneficial for the host country because it increases the country’s global visibility and attracts international attention, creating opportunities for further development. One significant advantage is that such events enhance the country’s international image, encouraging potential investors and attracting more tourists in the future. As a result, the host nation can strengthen its economy and improve public facilities. For example, the FIFA World Cup is usually hosted by well-developed countries, bringing millions of visitors and generating substantial tourism revenue. In addition, it gives local citizens the rare opportunity to watch world-famous athletes compete in person, creating a strong sense of national pride.
Therefore, hosting nation would be encouraged to enhance road system and in result for numerous car accidents this advancement can be considered as a proof. Local residents and travellers may face challengings including high rate of traffic congestion as well as it can lead to improvement of insurance. As new stadium would be constracted for this major event or developed, the profit of its value become underused after the event, wasting taxpayers’ money for this. However it can bring some severe issues to society, after experiencing this, the image of country would be raised to worldwide level which can be selected as a reliable nation to handling such a huge sporting event.
In conclusion, despite the financial challenges associated with hosting international sporting events, the long-term economic and social benefits clearly outweigh the drawbacks.
