For examples, In India there is renowned show ”Crime Petrol” which imprise youngsters not to involve in the friendship with the strangers,and never go on a blind date.
However, on negative side, crime fiction and shows also watch by those who wants to harm the harmony of the society. This might be are those group of population who are unemployed, mentally or physically challanged or who are holding grudges. They get ideas from these shows about how to do the crime and how to protect themselves by concealling the evidence. For examples, in news we often heard that in the extra marital affair partner take help of these type of stories to kill their spouse.
In conclusion, I think merits outweigh the demerits, watching and reading things regarding crimes spread the awareness among the society and informed them about the true horrible picture of the nation.
