Nowadays, there remains a controversial topic about where old people should live–at their houses or at a nursing home. While some peope believe that they should live at a nursing home to have people take care them, because people in nursing home not busy in bussiness job like we parent. I strongly agree that each option has its own advantages and disadvantages, which will be discussed in this essay.
On the one hand, it is better for old people to live with their families. Firstly, they are good consultants because of having rich experience in both work and life. It is true for my grandfather who lives with me and my family. He is the oldest people in my family and he also has many experience in his life. That’s why when my mom and me are having conflicts with each other about the generation gap. He’s the one who always stood up to explain the problem to both of them and make peace with each other. Secondly, elderly people are considered coaches or doctors who look after their grandchildren well. For example, they had experience taking care of our parents before, so when they take good care of their grandchildren, it is only natural that they have a lot of experience in this matter. Also, they can do some volunteer work to help communities. Clearly, most elderly people often voluntarily participate in movement activities such as cleaning up trash or doing charity work. Partly to improve health, partly to help workers a little. Finally, when moral matters are put on top priority, the young should respect their parents at their twilight. Obviously, when we grow up, everyone should repay their parents by respecting and taking care of them. Because our parents have raised us since we were born and spent a lot of money and effort, taking care of them and repaying them is the right thing to do.
On the other hand, a nursing home should be considered for some reasons. To begin with, elderly people do not feel lonely or isolated in their own homes because there are other elderly people of the same age as them, even those who have the same thoughts, ideas or interests. Clearly, if they live in their homes, they may feel lonely because their children always come home late and sometimes don’t come home to eat with them. Being alone in the house and always having to wait for their children to come home makes them feel bored. Moreover, it is dangerous for them if they live alone in their houses. By way of illustration, if there are bad guys or robbers breaking into the house, the elderly will not be able to react in time and they will not have enough strength to fight back.
In conclusion, while both perspectives—the view that old people should live with their families, which is in contrast to the view that old people should live at a nursing home have their merits, I firmly believe that no matter where they live, as long as they feel comfortable and happy, that’s fine. This approach not only it is better for old people to live with their families but also a nursing home should be considered for some reasons. Ultimately benefiting old people often like to live in happy but quiet places. They also like to confide in people who have the same views, so no matter where they go, as long as they are happy, they don’t need luxurious places.
