It is evident that the news media network exerts excessive burden on minds of people in modern era. While this trend broadens the access to news updates globally, I largely believe negative consequences such as psychological distress and relying on false information are more predominant.
One significant benefit is that individuals can achieve real time updates with comprehensive coverage within seconds. Broadcasters deliver news reports and breaking news through different media outlets and are being shared in social media platforms. For example, during natural disasters or international crisis this rapid and diverse flow helps citizens keep aware and well prepared. This enables people to explore wide range of information across borders and ensure the right for having correct news.
Despite the positive outcomes, this shift poses rather detrimental effects especially for mental well-being of people. Firstly, overloaded unnecessary facts dominate daily life style and erode the motivation. For instance, citizens in underdeveloped countries may experience demoralization due to persistent economic crisis and political volatility and finally could foster a sense of hopelessness for their future. Secondly, certain media channels distort the truth by exaggerating events and mould the public opinion. Consequently, public may heavily rely on misinformation and curb their critical thinking pattern.
In conclusion, although news media is compulsory for public awareness, its shortcomings in terms of biased details and heavily exposure to negativities on daily basis may profoundly influence the psychological states of people. Therefore, I’m convinced that this is a mostly a negative development.
