Band 5+: Deciding the size of our family is a personal preference. In your opinion should the government intervene in the rights of the individual with regard to family planning? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Population has been rising significantly especially in developing countries,leads to several issues. Therefore, people argue that whether government should make stringent law about family planning or not. In my opinion, party in power must make some serious guidelines and regulations about it.

To commence with, proponents favor that strict laws are necessary to curb this problem. Otherwise, it leads to resource constraints in the future and ultimately jeopardise the economy. As the number of people increases rapidly, demand for basic necessities such as food and houses enhances, and eventually, the price of products increases, which can be detrimental to the economy. Further, it moves towards generation gap (between the ratio of young people over older people. For instance, Vietnam has put up a population policy that is two child per family but not in continuation but with a lag of three- or five-year plan to 5 yearsmanage the population. In this way, one can put up laws with cautiousnescaution so that a balance of economy and generations can be maintained.

Another reason can be, diversion of public money towards non-productive things, subsidized schemes which people take advantage of without any watchfulness. The schemes, such as free education to minorities and a monthly stipend, are given to them for their children’s welfare. These people, instead of taking advantage of them in a positive manner, they start exploiting it. The same scenario can be seen with paid leaves, given to the employees. For instance, paid maternity leaves are restricted to second child only. Therefore, a regular check can be maintained at least in organisedthe organized sector.

To conclude, family planning can be incorporated by regulations. Though it is the personal choice of people to decide the size of their family, they should consider responsible reproduction. According to my opinion, the authority is responsible for the better development of any country, so, must form strict laws because they are going to be helpful for engrossing family planning in society.
