In recent years, the world has become increasingly interconnected and interdependent as people around the world get access to the same products. From my perspective, the merits of this trend exceedthan its demerits.
Admittedly, globalization can have some downsides. Ecconomically, small local businesses often strugle to compete with large multinational corporations, which can result in decreased local employment opportunities and economic disparity. The dominance of a few global brands can stifle creativity and innovation among small businesses. When a limited number of companies control the market, there is less room for diverse and niche products from small ones that cater to specific cultural or regional preferences.
However, I deem that the global homogenization of products and media would bring many possible benefits. One significant advantage of this trend is the ease of access to products and services. Global brands and franchises ensure that people can enjoy the same high-quality goods regardless of their geographical location. For example, international fashion brands such as Zara and L-seoul offer trendy clothing at affordable prices worldwide, allowing individuals to stay fashionable without the limitations imposed by local markets. Moreover, the widespread availability of international TV channels has enhanced access to information and entertainment.Indeed, people can enjoy diverse content from different cultures, broadening their perspectives and fostering a greater understanding of global issues. This can lead to more informed and empathetic global citizens.
In conclusion, although there are disadvantages to global homogenization of products and media such as the high compention between small busniesses and larger ones, I firmly believe that the advantages of globalization, fostering global connectivity, enabling people to purchase products at affordable price.
