Different countries exhibit varying mindsets among students when it comes to choosing between staying at home with their family for university education and moving elsewhere for reasons like independence. There are both positives and negatives to consider when leaving home for studies. In the essay below, I will discuss my views on this matter.
One of the main benefits for undergraduates living away from their family while studying at universities is the freedom and opportunity to become independent. This means that they have more options in making their own decisions without interference, allowing them to learn essential life skills. For example, when students in America move out, they may choose to reside in an apartment or a hostel, where they learn to adapt to a new environment, form new relationships, manage finances, and explore various places.
On the other hand, the downsides of living away from home include numerous distractions that can hinder studies if one succumbs to unhealthy habits like late-night partying, addiction, homesickness, loss of focus, or depression. Additionally, managing expenses is a challenge, as individuals need to secure a source of income to cover costs such as rent, utilities, fees, and other expenses.
In conclusion, while living away from home during university offers freedom and a chance to foster independence, it also presents challenges related to distractions and financial management. Personally, I favor the advantages of moving out for university education as it contributes to overall personal development, despite acknowledging the importance of considering the drawbacks as well.
