It’s true that in many countries, people’s ages are higher than before. This trend leads to both advantages and disadvantages for society. Some people think that it may bring many benefits, while others believe that it can have negative effects. This essay will discuss both points of view before giving my opinion.
On the one hand, living longer means working longer. If the average age of people is increasing, the average working age will also increase. Thus, many countries may not worry as much about a lack of labor. Another benefit is that customers also live longer. As a result of this phenomenon, employment and the economy can remain more competitive and active than before.
On the other hand, this trend also brings many significant issues. Due to an increased lifespan, soon stress on the economic system will increase and extremely burden the younger generation. It will be harder to find jobs than before since elderly people are now abundant, and it won’t be easy to compete with them as they are much more experienced. Another problem is that younger workers may cause a financial burden for higher taxes for social services.
From my standpoint, the increase in average age may cause some issues and burdens for both the government and the next generations; the benefits may be far more significant. An increasing average age of people means the social services in those countries may be very high, and the standard of living is also very high. All of these advantages are the reasons why people now have a longer life than before, and this also illustrates that those countries are well-developed and livable places. Due to that, other people and companies around the world may migrate to those countries to invest. Then those countries will develop even further.
In conclusion, while the increasing age of people may bring some problems, the beneficial effects brought about are of greater importance.
