The question of whether living longer is good or problematic has sparked a controversial debate in the world. While some contend that it may lead to some problems for society, I maintain that it is absolutely beneficial to nurture well-rounded future generations in every aspect of life.
The reason why people disagree with living longer is that there is a wide range of challenges such as economic, health, and financial issues. Given seniors’ physical limitations, they are not able to continue their personal work, undermining their financial stability. Should they not have adequate money for their daily needs, they are unlikely to sustain their daily lives, meet their needs, and even purchase food products. For example, provided that older people face emergencies such as sudden sickness or accidents, they cannot solve such issues due to a lack of money for treatment. What is more, they may struggle to pay their essential bills or accommodation rent, which is an extra financial hardship for them.
Admittedly, longer life expectancy does not allow seniors to live without financial and health problems. However, it can make a significant contribution to nurture well-rounded and intelligent generations. This is because older citizens have their own experiences from their personal and professional lives, and they can educate adults with such golden knowledge, which prevents them to make enormous mistakes during their lives. In other words, seniors in this case serve as role models for future generations. For instance, compered to young professionals, older and seasoned workers – such as doctors, builders, and teachers – are more valued, given high salary, and used as educators sharing their knowledge and information in their workplaces thanks to their high-quality of expertise, practical skills, and personal experiences.
To conclude, although longer life expectancy does not guarantee older citizens with a comfortable life, it provides young individuals with practical skills and professional guidance by utilizing older and qualified individuals.
