There is an ongoing debate about whether in a number of countries individuals’ average life expectancy has increased compared to the past. While some people argue that this creates problems for authorities, others believe that it can be beneficial to society. This essay supports the idea that this trend has positive effects on society.
On the one hand, elderly people may suffer from healthcare issues. These people often live away from their children, so they find it difficult to do simple tasks like cleaning, washing dishes or cooking. Those elderly individuals have to be looked after and supported by their children, otherwise they should be sent to nursing homes, where the government takes the responsibility for their healthcare and covers their living costs. For example, the government in my country has set up a new nursing home for twenty thousand of elderly people and invested around one hundred million dollars in order to redevelop the older ones.
On the other hand, those older members of society can contribute to the community by offering useful advice based on their knowledge. As people grow older, they become more skilled and knowledgeable. They can educate the younger generation about the world through their own experiences and insights. For instance, many citizens in my country tend to ask for advice from elderly people, knowing that they can provide genuinely useful guidance, especially when making important decisions.
In conclusion, despite the fact that older people can create a serious challenges for the states, i believe that they may offer genuinely helpful guidance.
