Both people and authorities are largely investing and spending money in order to protect animals and their natural habitats. However, others argue that this money should be used to treat other problems such as health issues or poverty. I firmly disagree with this opinion and believe that protecting animals is an absolute priority for us.
To begin with, animal should not be treated as a less important part of our society and deserve to be cared of just like humans do. Since ancient times, animals have always been humans’ loyal best friend, whenever it comes to protection of houses or properties, animals have always been there for us. Furthermore, animals have always been an important partner to humans from a mental health standpoint. For instance, people with mental health issues, or those those who fail to meet the love of their life, or even those who are grieving the loss of a beloved one have always reported the immense reassurance that their companion animals brought them during these hard times. Thus, since we love braging about being the brightest and most dominant species on earth, we should then use this power to protect our animals instead of neglecting them.
Protection of animals can also be accomplished by protecting the natural habitats they inhabit. Over past decades, it has clearly been proved that animals are major contributors to the well-being of planet’s biodiversity and its ecological and environmental balance, which mean that any direct threat to animals or their natural habitats is a direct threat to us. Moreover, destroying these habitats can result in a more frequent contact between humanity and wildlife, which may increase the risk of spreading infectious diseases. For example, an excessive hunting of wolves can result in a significant rise of deer which will cause the degradation or even destruction of vegetation. Therefore, protecting animals habitats means protecting animals, which in turn means protecting the stability and proper functioning of our planet.
To sum up, although many believe that we should raise funding for others issues like poverty or health. I personally believe that we should also prioritize spending money to preserve animals and their habitats since they play a major role in our society whether from an environmental or personal perspective.
