Many people are of the opinion that it is necessary to compel young generations to volunteer and help the community. This essay will explore the pros of this idea such as raising the humanist sensibilities of the youth, as well as the challenges including the interruption of their work and study, and will argue the benefits of this approach outperform its drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are some advantages of compelling the youth to volunteer and join hand to the community. The primary factor of this benefit is humanist sensibilities raising. Through the voluntary activities consisting of being a volunteer or launching “green” campaigns to protect environment, young generations perceive the importance of themselves, which plays a vital role in the development of community, and take the mantle of maintaining sustainable society. For instance, participating in the “Green Future” project, where young volunteers planted trees and cleaned public spaces, helps them understand the significance of environmental conservation and fosters a sense of responsibility towards their community.
On the other hand, this approach can have some problematic implications that need to be addressed. Participating the voluntary activies can cause the interruption of their work and study due to taking time to join and prepare for their charitable projects. On the account of compelling the youth to volunteer synonymous with they need to spend quite much time in these activities, urging them to strict a balance between volunteering and their professional lives; otherwise this can poses a profound issues in their time balance and management resulting in the probability of putting them into a strict depression. Alternatively, their mental health would be affected significantly in the negative way by this imbalance.
In conclusion, while the concern about the young generations’s mental health is a problematic implication that people need to take it into consideration, raising the humanist sensibilities in the young adults, are substantial for its importance to the future generations. I believe that the advantages of compelling the youth to volunteer can outweigh the drawbacks.
