In recent times, the process of producing and perserving food items often require the use of dangerous chemicals. Eventhough there are some drawbacks associated with the use of additives to produce, and prolong the shelf life of food, this essay argues that positives outweigh the negatives.
On the one hand, a major negative effect of this is on Human health. For example, if individuals are continously consuming fertilized grown foods, the risk of having terminal illnesses, such as diabetes and hypertension increases. This means that, they may not be able to properly care for themselves, and potentially lead to a decline in their overall quality of life.
Conversely, despite the above fore mentioned, the use of these substances help in enchancing the quality of various foods. For instance,in Nigeria, pest are killed by the use of herbicides during cultivation of fruits like tomatoes and pineapples in other to ensure that they are not destroyed before they are harvested. Furthermore, the use of chemicals during perservation helps to ensure that regardless of the season, some fruits, such as watermelon, will remain fresh and available for people’s consumption.
In conclusion, manufacturing and conserving food with chemical subsances can damage one’s health. Nevertheless, they help to improve the overall quality of the food products and also prolonging its availability for people. In view of this, I believe that there are more benefits than damaging effects.
