It is argued that the minimum length of holiday that companies ought to offer their workers is 4 weeks annually in order to encourage their work performance, with which many people, myself included, strongly agree.
Granted, a good holiday policy is essential for employees to enhance creativity. This approach enables staff to take long trips to numerous interesting nations, where they can be inspired by various enriched cultures and useful knowledge from local people which facilitate them to come up with innovative ideas. Moreover, by having sufficient time for resting, their brain has a chance to relax after being burned out with a stressful workload, therefore, more creative solutions are stimulated. Google, a famous multinational organisation is an example of this. Its human resource department has set up holiday entitlements for every employee over the years with the hope of receiving more breakthrough projects. After days off, a higher number of successful campaigns is recorded, especially in the marketing, design and engineering department which are one of the most related to creativity so the more appropriate time dedicated to having a break , the more efficient outcomes can be achieved.
On the other hand, spending nearly a month taking a holiday can lead to the operational disruption of an organization. Long holidays lead to disruption of the regular workflow, project delays, or even the staff shortage which diminish productivity. Futhermore, unfinished tasks of absent workers might fall on other clleages’ shoulders, making them busier, so that the work can not be done efficiently and quickly. For instance, in healthcare systems, doctors are often required to be available most of the time due to potential emergencies. If some of the major surgeons take a holiday for such a long time, it may cause understaffing. Consequently, long-term holidays to motivate employees can badly impact the overall operation of a company.
In conclusion, while a 4-week holiday each year for employees might result in declining productivity of companies, I would lean towards permitting them to leave their work for 4 weeks in minimum to reach more promising successes.
