English is considered as the language of the modern world. Some people believe that it has benefits, while others think it will erase the other culture by time. I believe that the world needs a dominant language such as English to uniform the language of communication between humans.
The domination of English has many benefits; as a result, it is the global second language in many countries. Nowadays, it is the language of technology, science, and international business. Consequently, international business meetings are in English, and most books and journals are published in English. For example, in specific areas of science, related research papers must be published in English even if the institution of authors are not English speakers. Moreover, having English as a second language increases the possibility of acceptance for job seekers.
On the other hand, many people believe that if english remains the dominant language, it will cause other languages to disappear. Additionally, language is not just for communication, it brings its own culture to its speakers, as it will spread American culture in many countries and lose their identity. For example, a recent statistic established to measure the cultural affiliation of children who learn in English international schools and those who learn in mother tongue school, proves that children are biased more to the culture they learned with. So, an international language has to be invented that does not belong to any culture.
In Conclusion, having a dominant language to uniform the communication between different nations is important and beneficial; however, the language should not attach to any nationality or culture.
