Due to various circumstances, many individuals decide to move from country of their origin to another. Some people argue, that this may have detrimental effects for a person and society as a whole, while others claim that migration has more pros than cons. This essay will discuss both views and provide examples to support them.
On the one hand, immigration has several beneficial aspects. For the country of migration, foreigners bring in talent and knowledge with them. These people join the talent pool for the employers to hire from, and contribute to economic growth. Furthermore, from an individuals perspective, it creates an opportunity to find a new source of income, previously unavailable to them due to circumstances in their home country, such as an economic crisis. Additionally, newcomers enrich host nations culture, by sharing their language, history and customs with society around them. For instance, individuals can translate books from native language into another, and open cultural cuisine restaurants for other people to enjoy.
On the other hand, a big move such as this is not an easy feat for most people, and it is costly to both individuals and to the host and native country. Firstly, overeccessive emigration causes a brain drain when talented and promising people move out forever. This is detrimental to economy, as they do not contribute or pay taxes anymore. Turning to the destination country, it may not be able to properly handle a persons needs, such as living and social payments. And it has great costs for a person to bear, including flight tickets and visa, finding a place for work or studies.
In conclusion, numerous people migrate between countries every day, be it for one reason or another. While this phenomenon has a few negatives, such as brain drain and additional economic burden, it also has several merits, including cultural enrichemnt and more talented workers who boost the economy.
