There is a popular observation among people that prominent athletes receive enormous cash prize over their counterparts serving in other vocations. Since, sports is crucial in life but equality, both social and income, should be maintained across the professions without any bias. Therefore, I will go with this belief of equity and indiscrimination.
In order to support my argument, it is discernible that personalities who have achieved a lot in their domain tend to get more than sufficient, thereby leading to extravaganza. Because of this, a perception is created, where the sports are seen as money-minting activities. Further, this disintegrates the real essence of sportsmanship and other values associated, thereby pushing the events towards commercialization. For example, in India, during India Premier League, corporates unrelated to the championship take the dominance and dictate its terms and regulations, destroying the culture of cricket in the country.
Moreover, there is no dearth of players who lose their focus from matches and shift it towards trivial offerings due to which performance is hampered and potential becomes unreachable. In addition to it, sportspersons often allow themselves to become susceptible to materialistic desires such as luxurious stays in hotels, accessories, brands promotions and other activities which are far beyond their true professional demands. Because of such stature of the figure, this creates a monopoly in the team, taking away opportunities from the talented teammates as they decide the selection and order of merit. Further, giving too much attention to one sport and neglecting other professions become unhealthy for a nation because the country get dependent on the success of that particular game.
To summarize, every play and job should be given its due respect and attention, while keeping ethics and moral responsibilities towards playful events.
