It is believed that the key factor is education to alleviate crime levels and prisoners could get a occupation. While education can be effective mitigate mentioned issues, I strongly disagree with the opinion that educate criminals reduce the crime.
On the one hand, there are several factors that education could provide better opportunities for prisoners. Firstly, Criminals spend a significant amount of time in prison. Providing education could improve their knowledge and help them find a job after their release. Secondly, lack of education is the major reason for increasing the murder, what I mean by that uneducated community have more tendency to commit a crime, even after they got discharged. Educating murderers helps to raise their awareness about innocent life, however, it might be mitigating addiction to crime. For example, Norway adopts a penal system that aims to rehabilitate criminals and reintegrate them into society.
On the other hand, I believe education is not the key factor tackling with rehabilitating murderers and decreasing crime levels. In other words, not only ignorant people commit crimes, but also highly educated individuals tend to murder. White-collar crimes committed by educative people most of the time. For instance, in the USA, the CEO of companies who graduated from most reputative universities, had made complex financial manipulations to fraud investors, Furthermore, prisoners who receive education in jail may gain advantage over honest people who cannot afford education outside, this can create a sense of injustice.
In conclusion, due to rehabilitation having little impact on alleviating crime and causing some disputes about justice, I believe education is not the key factor despite the fact that it can yield some positive effects.
