The prevalence of art, be it through a mere documentation of history or a medium of individualistic expression has been a renowned cornerstone in the development of civilisation. That said, the diminishing significance of art in modern society brings us to ponder the possible reasons.
The most prominent cause of this could likely be due to the appeals from modern day advancements in leading industries. Developments in science technology and business have all been the central cornerstones towards the development of modern day society; From the establishment of mulitnational corporations to breakthroughs in artificial intelligence that were once conceived to be nothing more than science fiction just 20 years prior now stands before us, metaphorically and figuratively. As such, the increasing influence science, business and technology has had on our lives naturally drifts us towards discussing these topics and putting them in the spotlight. As a result, while the development of art has not seen any evolutionary stage in particular, this stagnant nature has been overshadowed by the continuous growth and impactful contributions brought by distinct fields during the 21st century.
That being said, it is not to say that arts should therefore be a relic of the past. In contrast, advancements in leading fields of science and technology could and should be further used to enhance our individualistic artistry through mediums that were previously infeasible. Examples such as integrating digital and oil paints, ultilising wave signals in computers conjure distorted signals, and much more. All of these illustrate endless possibilities of how art can be reflected through societal change. This demonstrates how perhaps the diminishing prevalence of art is not simply due to being overshadowed in other fields, but rather a lack of breakthrough revolutionising enough to restinuate discussion and awareness to its significance.
In conclusion, while advancements in impactful industries such as technology and science could act as contributors for the gradual shift in spotlight from the importance of arts in modern day society, the need for continous evolution for artistic progression is what art truly needs in order to remain its relevance.
