Cause And Solution

Band 7+: Global warming is one of the biggest threats humans are facing in the 21st century and sea level is continuing to rise at alarming rates. What are the causes and some possible solutions to global warming?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the increasing global temperature is one of the biggest problems that our society has, and there is the constant trend towards sea level rise which is also disturbing. I think it happens mainly because of the sources of energy that people use, and sea level rise is a consequence of this issue, but there are some solutions.

A reason why the rising of temperature has become a main issue of our time is energy carriers, particularly coal, natural gas and oil. This means that when people use these energy sources for their needs such as fuel for cars, factories and heating stations, it releases some types of gases which are called greenhouse gases. The greenhouse gases lead to an increase of the temperature on the surface of earth which is named greenhouse effect. As a result, broadly producing greenhouse gases lead us to irreversible consequences such as global warming. Furthermore, it is global warming that causes sea level rise, because this is due to the melting of glaciers, which in turn is due to high temperature.

A possible solution to returning earth’s temperature to its standard level is using alternative sources of energy. Alternative sources of energy such as solar energy, wind energy and hydropower do not secrete any types of greenhouse gases which can be harmful to our planet. Thus, global powers such as the European Union change their energy policies in favour of renewable energy sources. In addition, there should be a revolution in the car sector of the economy, which means turning old models of cars to the new ones, which use electricity instead of using fuel for moving. Therefore, it also will have a big impact in decreasing the effects of global warming.

In conclusion, a global process such as rising temperature owes mainly to energy carriers which emit gases and, in turn, are the reason for an increase of sea level in our planet. However, these problems can be dealt with by altering the sources of energy and decreasing the numbers of cars which use fuel.
